Double Identity Band returns with new single “All On You (You’ll Still Hate Me When You’re Sober)”

Double Identity Band has just released their newest single, “All On You (You’ll Still Hate Me When You’re Sober)” on February 25th. The single is a catchy mix of pop-rock and pop-punk, transporting the listener to the early 2000s with their homage to pop rock icons like the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato.

Double Identity Band is a Chicago-based independent pop/rock band composed of 22-year-old twin sisters Courtney (vocals/drums) and Arden Kurhayez (vocals/guitar). The two artists contribute impressive vocals and complex melodies which work to produce songs perfect for singing along to in the car at the top of your lungs. There is truly something for everyone in Double Identity Band’s music, and songs like “All On You (You’ll Still Hate Me When You're Sober)” would fit perfectly in your angsty breakup playlists.

The pop-rock duo is known for their pop bangers, and this single brings more honesty and relatability than ever. A fun take on the last phone call before a relationship ends, this song is perfect for anyone who has ever felt embarrassment or regret about who they’ve wasted time with. Each and every listener can relate to the themes of heartbreak and frustration that coincide with young love as explained through the band’s vulnerable lyrics. The single displays an honest depiction of a messy breakup in the modern age, telling their story with an unfiltered voice.

The band puts a modern and punk-fueled twist on the upbeat songs of the 2000s era which influence them. Courtney and Arden pull inspiration from musicians like Against The Current, Taylor Swift, and The Summer Set. The twins blend together their eclectic tastes in music to create a genre-defying sound that evokes a feeling of nostalgia and excitement in every listener.

About the single, drummer Courtney Kurhayez states: “All throughout the recording process, we kept describing this song as ‘the fun one.’ Despite the weight of some of the lyrics, ultimately we wanted to create an upbeat song that people couldn’t help but bop along to.”

The group’s undoubtable talent has earned them recognition in their industry for several years. They began playing music at five years old and have been performing in and around the Chicagoland area for more than a decade. In 2018, the duo released their debut EP, “Small Talk,” followed up by three singles, “Everything Reminds Me of You” in 2019, “Your Anything” in 2020, and “Red Flags & Roses” in 2021.

There is plenty more to come in the near future for Double Identity Band, and fans can be excited for new music that shows off their development as artists over the last few years. “Red Flags & Roses” and “All on You (You’ll Still Hate Me when You’re Sober)” are their latest releases off of an upcoming EP expected April 2022. Double Identity Band brings a creative yet familiar sound, and they are sure to perform their way into the hearts of punk rock fans everywhere.
